Pleasant Afternoon,

I got married in the United States October, 2019. I am currently pregnant and expecting early March 2021. My American husband tried to add me to his work insurance this past October 2020 and they're saying because I don't have a SSN they're unable to start deducting for me starting January. I intended to have a water birth and seek health care through his insurance (United Health Care) because I was denied Medicaid, Pregnancy Medicaid and WIC when I applied. 

Additional Information : WE applied for I-485, I-765 and I-130 through New American Pathways (non profit) in March, 2020, however the only progress with my paperwork thus far was my fingerprints being taken.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE (my James Brown voice) If there is any way someone can help point me in the right direction with places I can contact, tips I should try or where I need to go for rapid assistance, I would greatly appreciate it!

The below thread might some help. Many people have had problems adding a spouse, without a SSN, to there insurance.  You'll probably have to argue with HR to get added. A SSN is not a requirement for Health Insurance. (See question 5 on the IRS site)

I was able to add my wife to my insurance while she still had a B1/B2 tourist visa (no SSN).

Response 1: Feb. 11, 2020 - Guangzhou gave copy/paste info to my Rep's office.

Response 2: Feb. 18, 2020 - Tokyo Embassy - Requested transfer fm China - Case moved to Administrative Processing 

A Short Time Later after talking with Rep. Case's office, they contacted the embassies again. 

Response 3: Feb. 21, 2020 - Transfer complete; New interview scheduled.

 

Interview Date: Mar. 2, 2020 - Tokyo Embassy 

Interview Result: Approved

Visa Issued: Mar. 4, 2020

Visa in hand: Mar. 6, 2020

 

Time: ~359 Days from start to finish 

POE:  Stupid COVID-19 delaying travel to the US....

POE: Aug. 13, 2020 - San Francisco 

 

SSN: Oct. 23, 2020

GC: Aug 5, 2021 (51 weeks from entry)

Is there an option for him to do online enrollment? My husband was able to successfully add me this year and used zeroes as my SSN. I had issues when we went through HR but luckily, they changed providers and they were asked to update/ add information themselves online.

Thank you Scott001, that's exactly what I came on B1/B2 visa but, they're giving me such a hard time so, I'm at my wits end!

Celebi, I am not sure if this is an option but, I will most definitely ask if he's able to!
