Hello VJ's

What documents would you suggest submitting when filling N-400 online (5 years rule)

I have ready to upload :) :

1) copy of GC

2) Decree of divorce (previous marriage)

3) Marriage certificate (current marriage)

4) 5 years TAX return

I have 2 traffic tickets (speeding) in the past 10 years so should I need to upload proof of payment or bring that with me to the actual interview?

Thanks and please let me know if I need to know anything else regarding my application

Just follow and submit what online N400 asks.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

^ this

it didn’t ask for tax returns

if you have kids it will ask for their birth certificates as far as I recall

Oh so when you actually file it will tell you what to submit ? :)

Thanks for your time to replay....I appreciate that !!!

Yes. That's the beauty of online filing

Hello everyone!

Sorry to take this place for my question cause I felt this question is kinda related to mine.

I'm filling out N400 online (5 years rule) and for additional evidence part I'm thinking to attach my tax returns. However, I found that I couldn't find my W2 forms of 1 year. I thought I have all years but I failed to find this one. Is W2 form required for a tax return to be provided for naturalization? Thank you so much for your help and happy new year!

Don’t worry about uploading it for the form submission, and they do not want your actual returns. When it is time for your interview, go to the IRS website and download the tax transcripts (there are various types, but you will choose “immigration” as the reason you want them and it will tell you which type) and take those to the interview with you. Mostly, they do not even ask for them, but if they do it is the transcripts (= direct proof from the IRS that you submitted) they want to see.

Thank you so much for the prompt response! sounds like tax transcripts are different from tax returns that's needed by USCIS for naturalization? I should bring copy of transcripts for interview? Thanks again!

I just checked IRS website and according to my type of selection "immigration" I did get return transcripts suggested. Then I found the return transcripts has records for 3 years not 5 years and only "Account Transcripts" have more than 3 years records. I can't find "show all" or "request more" under return transcripts either. Did it happen to you? Is it okay to bring my other 2 years account transcripts instead of return transcripts? Thank you very much for the advice!

Yes, and that’s exactly what I did for prior years - I was one of the few asked to show transcripts, and the IO was happy with those. Most people don’t seem to get asked for them. I got the feeling I had a newbie IO who was intent on checking every box, crossing every t, dotting every i.

Oh that's good to hear. So you didn't upload tax related information online but brought them to the interview? Thank you!

Spoiler

Hello all :( I started with my N400 form and got to the part about "Have you ever been placed on removal, etc etc..."

So I have been placed on removal back in 2010 i think but when my I-130 was approved IJ canceled removal proceeding.

So I know I have to answer YES to that question but wen I do another window opens and it says "Provide an explanation"

Does anyone know what exactly to put in there?!!

Thanks in advance
