My wife is IR! with her interview date next month 25Jan.  She went to do her medical and was told she needed a new passport before they would complete.  I do remember reading about this and yes it is needed even for medical.(6mo. before expire).  With all this extra stuff going on I kind of forgot about the passport expire issue.  So.. my question,  do I submit new passport to NVC?  We have been DQ'd and have left NVC and just waiting for interview.  Or,  Do we just bring the new passport along to the interview? Case complete and DQ'd at NVC, will they accept and forward new information ie: a new passport?

Take the new passport to interview

the attached approved visa is good for 6 months and this is why the passport must also be good during that time period

You must possess a passport valid for travel to the United States with a validity date at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the United States (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions).

I understand that i do need to take the new passport to interview.  I am wondering if I need to upload the new passport to NVC?  I am thinking that I do not, seeing that our case is complete at NVC, and if i remember right, NVC says after DQ'd, all inquiries should be directed to the consulate.  Am i correct with this?  I really haven't found anything on this issue and I sure didnt expect to be having this problem as my wife should have been here by now, but..so goes the journey of immigration 🥴

Our case is slightly different from yours in that CEAC flagged spouse's passport as expiring soon before we were DQ'd. Since we had gotten a new one right after filling out the DS-260 we were able to upload the new one in addition to the old one that was already uploaded. The reason why I bring it up is that I think that since you're already complete at NVC stage and they didn't do any sort of flagging like they did with ours, you're probably safe to just go ahead and bring both passports to the interview. Both because the old one is the one they have in their system and the new one is the valid one.

FWIW spouse's old passport expires in May 2021, and we went through the NVC stage in August-September 2020. Greater than the six months out mark, but still too close for comfort. It's probably down to the person looking at our case being a bit more diligent than the one looking at yours, if I had to hazard a guess. This whole process is esoteric at best though 😅

Hope this helps.

Patience......patience.
