Does anyone know how to track a renunciation application on VFSglobal?

I went to this link https://www.vfsvisaonline.com/Global-PassportTracking/

and it asks for ARN, but it doesn't seem to work for me .

ignore. I just got an email from vfs with an update.

Got my surrender certificate last week. It took about 10 days from handing my application package to Fedex and receiving the letter and canceled passport delivered to me. Pleasantly surprised!

On to the OCI portion now....

Which Indian embassy did you send your renunciation application?

I have mailed my application via fedex on 19-Jul-2021 to Houston and hoping I will get certificate within 2 weeks.

Is it mandatory to acquire the US passport before applying for renunciation?

Or can it be done just using a copy of the Naturalization certificate?

I ask because there is still a large backlog for US passports, and renunciation is a prerequisite for OCI. If renunciation and US passport can be applied for together it will speed up the timeline.

You need to send a copy of the US PP so no. You must wait for PP.

Thanks.

This just seems like another example of a poorly thought out requirement by Indian authorities.

There is no real reason for one to get a US passport unless they are planning to travel internationally soon. And if I understand correctly it is mandatory to renounce the Indian passport within 90 days of acquiring another citizenship.

It was within 3 years and not sure if it changed recently. If you renounce after 3 yrs they issue a penalty fee.

OK. THIS IS SO CONFUSING.

so i completed gov form got ARN number.

create an application on VFS page but it would not let me go to payment page with out submitting the renunciation ONLINE form which had no way to sign it. So i thought that i may have to send physical copies of it, and that they will give me down load link for renunciation forms later, i clicked submit online form without not being able to sign it, after that it took me to a payment portal and i paid , and it gave me check list and courier labels.

now when i check the checklist, it says 'Two duly signed renunciation certificates' must be sent with the physical package , but they have not given any link to download it? they have  the link to fill it online only , which i seem to have completed and submitted without being able to sign,  how can we sign that on vfs global when they dont have the option for it?

DID I just waste 236$?? by being forced to submit without being able to sign?

where to download renunciation certificate as per the latest guidelines.?

Thanks!

This is a guide on surrendering your Indian Passport after becoming naturalized US Citizen.

Step 1: Click this Link and click register. After signing up check your email and activate your account and proceed to login.

Step 2: After you have logged in click on the link where it says “Apply for Surrender of Indian Passport - Application for Passport Surrender Certificate After Acquiring Foreign Nationality/Renunciation of Indian Citizenship, and fill the form. After completing and form, check for corrections and click validate. Then click home and the form will appear on the home page. Print that form.

Step 3: Create an account on VFS website or Login in here. After you have logged in click “Create a new application” and fill out the form. After click proceed, you will have to fill out another form. ARN # is the number you should have got after completing the surrender passport application on govt of India website. I can’t go beyond this step, but I think after paying the fees you are given a checklist to mail with your application and a receipt for your payment. All the different type of checklists required can be found Link under documents required tab.

Note: There is one more additional form that you must fill out based on your checklist. Do not forget to include that. The form can found on the same page as the checklist. Read the checklist thoroughly before mailing.

I hope I cleared all the confusions. If there is anything else that someone would like to add please post below.

Thanks for this guide. Do I need to submit a new application since I was not able to send my current application within 30 days of application registration in VFS system?

Passport Renunciation Application has this line:

NOTE: YOU MUST SEND YOUR COMPLETE APPLICATION WITHIN 30 DAYS FROM THE DAY APPLICATION IS REGISTERED ON VFS SYSTEM.

Hello,

I am filling out the renunciation application on VFS global. I am a little confused on what does this option mean?

What kind of stamp are they talking about?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
