Hi! We are currently filling out the I-134. I'm over the 100% for the K1 threshold but a bit under the 125% for AOS for two people, and I have quite a bit in savings.

I have a CD joint account with my mother. Would they even accept it if it includes another person's name without getting the other person involved? The only reason I don't want to list it is because I don't want to get my mom involved and I hope I should qualify to be the sole sponsor with my income and savings.

Also, has anyone done the interview without the employer letter?

Thank you for your help!

@pushbrkmay know.  I would think that you cannot use the entirely of a jointly owned asset, since obviously it wouldn't be available to support the immigrant.

I didn't have an employer letter when my fiance interviewed.  I had payslips and tax transcripts, and I had had the same employer for 13 years at that time.

Paystubs are preferred instead of an employer letter.  One recent pay stub is all the evidence one needs of current income.

You can certainly list and document the joint account mentioned but it will be the Consular Officer's judgment call on the spot that matters.  They tend to take the totality of circumstances into account in making their decisions.  This can vary a lot by country as well.  Is the petitioner's current income (not any calendar year) above the threshold?

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
