We applied December of 2019. The paperwork has been sitting in the embassy since Sept 2020

Wow these are some crazy questions... Can't imagine that's common and they ask everyone these. I've been in several local groups for a while and their questions are all tame, like when did you meet, what's the petitioner's job.

I think they can ask any questions

That has nothing to do with whether these questions are crazy or not. People CAN

 do crazy things but most don’t. These questions are certainly uncommon.
