Hi all, I've been away for three weeks but I'm back and my beloved will be here tomorrow evening. I have a couple of questions. Sooooo, on the I-129F there's a place that asks for the I-94 number if they are in the States at the time the I-129F is submitted. Will he get that on the plane? Is that something he'll have on his person when he lands?

The next question is regarding my passport. I'm making copies of EVERY page to submit, and it seems to skip page numbers...is this normal? I don't want them to think I'm trying to hide anything. I'm missing pages 9 and 10, and 15 and 16. It skips right over them. I never noticed that before.

I'm starting to panic getting everything ready before the price goes up in July! Somebody help me to calm down....I can't wait til he gets here (it's 0245 and I can't sleep!).

The I-94 will be in his visa when the K1 visa is issued, after he is approved at the interview. He doesn't get that on the plane. If he's never been in the States on any other visa (student or work type) he won't (as far as I know) have an I-94.

I never noticed the page numbers in my passport, I just made copies of every page that had stamps on it, and as there weren't many and they were all to Canada to visit my then fiancé I only submitted those pages as well as the photo and information page at the beginning.

I know that feeling...that panicky feeling of trying to get it all together and make sure I had everything I needed to file the I-129F. You're going to be fine! Have a great time with your beloved. :)

A visitor from Britain will receive an I-94 when they go through Customs & Immigration. It will be stapled into his passport. If they don't staple it (sometimes they don't) make sure he doesn't lose it. He'll need it when leaving the country.

Good luck and have a wonderful visit with your loved one!

Thanks for clarifying that Krikit...I honestly didn't know that about coming from the UK. :)

That's the case when coming from just about anywhere. The only exceptions are in locations such as Canada and Ireland that have preboarding inspection.

No, he will fill out the I-94 and hand it to an immigration official at the port of entry. It will then be stapled in his passport. The Consulate issues the visa. An immigration official at the border stamps and affixes the I-194F. It is two different government agencies and the two functions can happen months apart in time.

Hello again all, i'm not sure my question was clear, as it was very late....I finally went to sleep at 0330! My loved one will not be staying this trip, we are applying for the K-1, and on the I-129F it asks for the I-94 number and the date of his return to the UK. He's visited here before but I never noticed anything stapled to his passport. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention because we weren't to this point in our relationship yet. In addition, he hasn't officially proposed yet, things are being moved up because of the price increase (I think he intends on buying a ring while he's here this trip).

I'm still freaked out about the passport numbers skipping. There are pages numbered up to 25 save for the missing numbers. Should I only copy the pages that have stamps and of course the ID part? I've read several previous posts that I should copy every single page so they see your full passport.

Thanks again you wonderful people!!!!

If he's coming on the visa waiver program (ie entering the US without a visa) it will actually be an I-94W, not an I-94... it'll be a green form stapled (or not, they sometimes don't staple it - if this happens, make sure not to lose it!) into his passport, and the number printed on the form is the one to enter in the relevant space on the I-129F.

Tell him to make sure that when he flies back, someone from the airline actually takes the I-94 (or I-94W) out of his passport - they should do this when he leaves the US (usually as he boards the plane, if I remember right), but on occasion they forget! I say this because it happened to me and I didn't notice 'til about 8 months later - then was worried that they'd have me on record as an overstay and that it would cause problems with our visa process!

Good luck getting the I-129F package together... it's a good feeling when you get it all sent off! :)

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

WRT the passport..... some copied all pages, some only the ones with stamps and info on them. No one appears to have had any trouble either way.

Don't worry whether your loved one has an I-94 or not. I was in the US when we submitted the petition and didn't have an I-94 to enter. In fact, I don't believe we even mentioned that I was here at the time of the submission. I didn't consider it an issue because I was going to be back in Canada in a few days, anyway. I got the impression that that section really only pertained to those who were here long term.

If I remember right, there's a question that specifically asks whether the foreign fiance(e) is in the US at that time, with boxes to tick yes or no. I was visiting my then-fiance when we filed, and we didn't want to lie (obviously!), but also didn't want it to look as though I was there long-term... no doubt over-thinking and over-worrying about the whole thing, but in the box where it asked for the date of last entry to the US, we put something like 'returning to the UK on 11/02/06', just to make it nice and obvious! I'm sure it made no difference to anything, but made me feel better! :)

featherb, we are two peas in a pod! I was worrying over that same thing as well. Thank you for the advice! I'll settle down soon I hope. I think I'm wound up because he's going to be here in a few hours. I haven't seen him since Christmas and I don't want to take the 'magic' out of seeing him by worrying over technical things! I just hope I don't knock him down in an enthusiastic embrace when I get him at the airport....now i'll be looking for signs to take our picture by when there too...there I go again ooooooer! :energetic: :energetic: :energetic:
