I e-mailed the consulate; their reputation for response is pretty good. Depends on your embassy, but nothing will happen if you don't try.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Well, gee -- I just checked, and, on 24-hour response to my letter:

Dear Mr. T-Bone:

We have updated the information regards the telephone number. We received the I-129F from the National Visa Center on January 23, 2008. It is not to be a problem if you sent the I-134 when you file the petition, we will accept the financial document packet received when the interview takes place.

On January 27, 2008 we mailed a Packet 4, which contains instructions on how to request an appointment once the beneficiary has complied with all the instructions mentioned in it. The packet was sent to the address in Ecuador . Our correspondence may take up to five weeks to reach the addressee. If more than this time has passed and the agent has not received the Packet 4, the beneficiary or somebody on his/her behalf may download it from our web page: http://guayaquil.usconsulate.gov , or depending on where he/she lives, may come to the Consulate in Guayaquil any Thursday at 3:00 p.m. or to the Embassy in Quito any business day from Monday through Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to obtain a duplicate. All the person needs is the beneficiary’s name and the type of visa that he/she will seek, i.e., immigrant visa, fiancé (K1) visa, K3 visa or V visa.

For further information on immigrant visa processes, K or V visas, or to schedule or re-schedule an appointment, please contact our Visa Information Service (VIS) at:

1-800-010-145 from Ecuador

1-800-919-5290 from the United States

In order to access the VIS , you must have a PIN. You have two options to obtain a PIN, which costs US$12:

You may obtain a PIN at any branch of Banco de Guayaquil. Please retain your bank receipt, as you will need it when you call the VIS ; or

You may also obtain a PIN using your Visa or MasterCard by calling the VIS directly and selecting the appropriate option. Please have a pen and paper available to write down your PIN number and the information they will provide.

The Visa Information Service is available from Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. In Ecuador , you or someone on your behalf must call from a regular phone as pay phones and cellular phones do not have access to this service.

Sincerely,

Immigrant Visa Unit

I'm glad that worked for you. Unfortunately, it hasn't for me so far. I've emailed them several times in the last month. I called DOS and their notes say that the case is at the embassy and they should have mailed packet 3. The embassy says they don't have the case. NVC says the embassy has the case. I've also called the embassy and they said they can't help me. I think the embassy has the case and they're just gonna make me wait. I sent requests to both of my senators to try to intervene to get me an interview date. No luck thus far. That was 2 weeks ago. I've run out of ideas, so now all I have is prayer. Nothing will speed this process for me.

I'll hold you in my prayers. You're almost there, hang on for a little while more and just keep the faith, you will soon hear news and soon have the visa also. God speed. <HUGS>

i wanna know how the ones who filed in june already recieved their approval. i sent my I-129F beginning of June and got a receipt date of June 8. I have spoken to USCIS numerous times and they wont tell me anything and they are way over 60 days past my case so they filed a service report, but i havent recieved any information from that yet either. if i dont hear about that by March 20 i have to call again. How did all you June filers recieve yours so soon?

It's not that June filers received theirs so soon, it's that you are receiving yours so late. :( Really sorry to hear this. If you haven't already, contact your congressman. Pester CSC a LOT, and file a complaint with the ombudsman. Sadly, none of this guarantees anything, but it's worth a try.

It's been well over six months now. I'm so sorry you haven't gotten your NOA2. It's horrible that they haven't given you any indication of what is going on. Maybe your congressman can make an inquiry as to why your case still hasn't moved forward. Have you tried the RFE trick to try and get more information?

Additional hints: Do it during business hours, and if you end up reaching somebody unhelpful, excuse yourself from the call and repeat the process, to reach somebody different!
