Hello,

Does anyone know how long it takes to get back passport with visa stamped after passport submission at the Mumbai Consulate?? This is for the IR1 visa. Our 221g documents that were sent a month ago have been accepted and approved after the interview and they finally asked to send the passport.. They have had the passport since one week. Should I expect my passport soon.

basically I would like to know how long the visa stamping process takes for the Mumbai US Consulate.

Thank you

What does your CEAC status say?  True indication of visa approval is when the status turns to "ISSUED".

Thank you, I am aware of that. They have asked for the passport and stated in email that our case is approved and is in process for visa stamping.

MY question was , how long would it take for us to get the passport back during the visa stamping process plus the courier of our passport from the Mumbai Consulate!

Thank you!!!

Again, what does your CEAC status say?  That would tell you if the visa has actually been printed and on its way.  If not, you will have to wait longer.

My CEAC Status says approved. I’ve heard it takes about 10-20 days for the status to change to issued.

I just wanted to confirm with other users, but it looks like nobody knows the answer to my question.

Thanks anyway!

I thought its called visa issuing, and the stamping is what happens when you enter the US at POE....

Correct.  The US Department of State uses the terms "issuing a visa" and "stamping a passport" at POE.  I have not found any mention of "visa stamp" in any official DOS website.  Hence, the term used here in VJ is "visa issuing" as well.

Every consulate is different. At the Mumbai consulate, they call the process of issuing a visa the same as visa stamping. That is what it is declared in the letter they gave us. Maybe your consulate at the phillipines don’t use those words. If you research visa stamping processing times on the internet, It will give more details and a broader explanation of what the term visa stamping actually is.

With that said, thanks for your opinions, however, if you don’t got the answer to my question, you can write on another thread that may be more useful to your understanding .
