Some quick questions if I may and I apologise for the naivety but I just want to be clear on what needs to be done. We are at the NVC stage and are going to be submitting the I-864 shortly along with that of a joint sponsor, a family member in the states as my wife lives here in the UK with me.

Firstly, when filling out my wife’s form do we put down her UK earnings considering we declare it on our tax return and therefore appears on our tax transcript even though this will not be continued income in the US hence the joint sponsor?

Secondly how do we upload a joint sponsors form and additional documents needed onto CEAC, is it just a case of the family member downloading the I864 completing it and emailing it to us to upload along with their supporting docs too?

Once again apologies if this seems naive but for whatever reason this part has thrown us off!

TIA

The income your wife is "using to qualify...." is zero.

Common logistics would be for the petitioner/sponsor to study the I-864 instructions so the joint sponsor doesn't have to, then complete the joint sponsors forms, email them for printing and signature.  The joint sponsor then scans and emails back all required documents for the petitioner to upload.

Is the joint sponsor married?  If so, the joint sponsor's spouse should provide an I-864a as well along with residence and status documentation.

You aren't "naive".  You just haven't studied the instructions yet.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Thank you for your reply.

As noted  in the I-864 instructions, you will need proof of the joint sponsor’s US citizenship (or LPR status). So get a scan of his US passport bio page or birth certificate to include with his I-864.

Also his 2019 tax return is not enough proof if it a joint return. That lumps Mr and Mrs incomes together and doesn’t show he earns enough on his own to be the joint sponsor. His W2 or an employer letter can prove his separate income.
