N400 AND I751 COMBO INTERVIEW REQUEST?

Hi, everyone! I've read a few people saying they had a combo interview for lifting conditions and naturalization and I was wondering if there's a way I can request that? I'm applying for citizenship today (based on 3 year marriage to an American citizen) and filed my I751 in Oct 2019. The status for the I751 is "fingerprints taken". I actually did not even go to a biometrics appt, they reused my last one due to the pandemic. I was wondering if once they schedule my I751 interview, if I could send them a letter to request the N400 to happen as well? I live in Nashville and the office is in Memphis, 3 hours away. Any advice is helpful!

No. It's only after you get an N-400 interview scheduled that you can call to ask if it's going to be a combo interview (or just be prepared for one just in case).

They usually do a combo if both files are in the office at the time the interview is scheduled. Most it's it's the n400 that gets scheduled first but I've seen recently one person getting an i-751 scheduled first and they had a combo interview unexpectedly.

I have heard people mention that they included a copy of the I-797 (receipt notification for the I-751) when they submitted the N-400, just as a gentle reminder for USCIS that there is an outstanding I-751.

I didn't do this with my N-400, and they did NOT have the I-751 file there when I had my interview. I've now been waiting 8 months since my interview for a decision.

Oh wow I'm sorry to hear that.... I hope you get a decision soon. I moved from CA to TN and updated my address for the case and have a confirmation email. The problem is that I filed the N400 online, and they leave no space for comments or anything. Fingers crossed!

I see.... that makes sense. I looked at processing times for N400 in my field office and it is a lot faster than I751.

You can upload extra documents though, even after the case has been submitted.

I'd upload a scan of the I-797 receipt if it was me going through this again.

That's good to know! I'll upload it once it shows on my home scree. Right now it's just saying "You successfully submitted your form. We are processing your form. It can take up to 72 hours for all of your case information to show on your home page.". Thanks for letting me know I could attach more files!
