Hi Everyone,

I have researched but have not been able to find many answers. I am trying to find insurance companies that will provide life insurance to a DACA recipient and to an undocumented immigrant that live in the United States. They are both from Mexico originally. I am in the process of filing for a K1 visa for my fiancee, who had DACA but went back to Mexico when she turned 18 for school. So essentially this is for my sister in law and mother in law.

I have also been trying to find some type of health insurance for them. I looked into my work insurance, but do not think I can add them. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I can speak to the health insurance- you would only be able to add spouse and kids to your plan-no one else. Undocumented individuals can’t obtain health insurance and I think that is the same for DACA recipients as well. I doubt they would be able to obtain life insurance as well but hopefully someone more knowledgeable can comment.

Correct, you can't add unrelated people to an employer based plan.

Depending on which state they reside it (California, for example), they may be able to get state-subsidized insurance (Medicaid).

I would start by looking at the state's department of health and human services site.

If a person is adjusting to LPR status, they can obtain insurance from the marketplace (Obamacare/ACA).

Is anyone going through AOS?
