Fiance (LPR) and I (F1) are currently living on different houses (35 miles away). We’re getting married next week and submitting AOS the day after. We are going to move in together the same day of the marriage at her parent’s house (they are signing the affidavit of support btw).

Anyway, what evidence besides a cell phone plan with both of our names on it can we submit? Each of us have a checkings account and a credit card.  We have no problem in adding the other one as an authorized user but.. can we just do that or do we have to close one and have one joint bank account?

Thank you!

You could have done this long before marriage as well as adding each other to credit cards. Get life insurance polcies on each otherm figure out healthcarem do medical powers of attorney.  File / submit what evidence you have of being together.

Fiance has

1 credit card with Capital One

1 credit card with Discover

1 checkings account with Wells Fargo

1 savings account with Wells Fargo

I have

1 credit card with Bank of America

1 checkings account with Bank of America

Should we add each other as authorized users on ALL credit cards? Should we use only 1 checkings account for both of us or have a joint account (one on each bank?)

I was in a similar situation when my spouse and I got married and adjusted from an F1 visa. I would suggest adding each other to your bank accounts/credit cards, like right away, before you're married. One of each and get a debit card for the accounts. That way it appears like you trust each other by adding the other person to an account you've had for a while, rather than opening a brand new account. You can do that later on, for ROC. Do you guys have car insurance? Add the other person as an insured person under the policy. Do either one of you pay any utilities in your name? I'd call the company and ask them to add another person to the bill. It doesn't matter if it's in the maiden name (if a name change will happen in the future), all of this can be explained to USCIS. You need to get creative.

You can also include receipts of things like trips and events where both of your names are listed. Did you/your spouse get an engagement ring? Include the receipt and a photo of the ring/the day you got engaged.

We also didn't submit any notarized proof of relationship statements from friends or family, but you could do that. We submitted a lot of photos of us together at family events, with friends, etc. I added a name and brief explanation of each person in a photo, like "me", "my spouse", "my spouse's mom", and so on.

Good luck!
