Looking at my schedules, I won't be able to go to the post office tomorrow (thursday) but friday. this weekend is going to be a 4 day weekend (Sat through tuesday), so if i mail it friday, the packet won't go far anyway until next wednesday. i so decide to mail it wednesday as i'll be in BKK then.

Good luck to you. i'm sure your case is there. (F)

Yes! I just got off the phone with my girl, the embassy called her today to confirm her address and will be sending packet 3! On the downside I told her to send packet 3 to the embassy tomorrow, but now she doesn't want to because the lady she spoke to told her not too:(...oh well I'll just have to convince her otherwise

Elmira:

Thanks a lot, guys. I was relieved that our case has finally arrived at the embassy. i had been concerned of it getting lost on its way.

i am a former j-1 holder and my 2 year rule will be fulfilled on Sept 2. so, even though i mail the checklist and other documents back to the embassy tomorrow, my interview date must be scheduled after Sept 2 anyway. nonetheless, i want to know as soon as possible as to when my interview date will be in Sept. i can't wait to Sept to be here !!

Good luck to you guys on your interviews !!

i'm wondering now if the embassy is going to call me to confirm my address. they may not because they actually wrote it in their email to me as the address to which they'll send packet 3.

do you mean you told your girl to submit packet 3 in person tomorrow? i don't think we are allowed to walk in just to send in packet 3. if i remember it correctly, we are allowed to walk in (during their designated hours) to submit stuff only when it is documents additionally requested by them.

the embassy's web site updates the scheduled interviews every tuesday or wednesday. there is the lastest update:

http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/services/visa/IVschedule.htm

i hope your fiancee gets an interview date soon.

Thanks for the info ladywhite, all things I am thankfully already aware of.

I really really want an interview date and it looks like I'll have to wait though cause my girl is being really rigid on not sending anything to the embassy until she receives packet 3. I told her about this site and all the people that do it, and she says you are all liars! lol...I've seen it take up to 2 weeks for packet 3 to actually get to the beneficiary, if I have to wait at least 2 more weeks for an interview date I'm gonna go crazy! Ah well, I'll have to keep chipping away and convince her to send it.

Still no interview date. I emailed the consulate, asking about status of the case, and why the interview still hasn't been scheduled.

This was their reply:

Your application is undergoing congressionally mandated administrative processing. As soon as we can set an appointment we will be happy to inform you.

Best regards,

Visa Office

United States Consulate General

Naples, Italy

I checked other threads re: Admin Processing, and a lot of people are saying that ALL petitions go through it, they just don't tell everyone, and some take as little as 5 days, so most people never even find out unless their processing takes longer.

But what confuses me is the "congressionally mandated"...What is that supposed to mean?

you're welcome and sorry for telling what you're already aware of. you lived in thailand for years and know a lot. :)

tell her to go check out http://www.usvisa4thai.com/board/viewforum.php?f=19

it is a web site just like VJ but specific for Thais who are fiance(e)s of US citizens. nearly all of the postings are in thai.

i hope she gets convinced after checking out the site. :)

haha...actually I can read and write thai pretty good...but i'm a little rusty right now since i've been back for 6 months and not practicing! I got an email from the embassy that they actually received the petition on July 16 and sent out packet 3 on July 25, so I guess it won't be so bad if my girls waits until she receives it to send it back in, should be today or tomorrow hopefully.
