ok forgive me if this has been asked before,  I received a  rfe in the mail on July 19th, it says I have until Oct 2nd to get all the information together I did speak with a lawyer and he said that I have actually until Dec 2nd an additional 60days due to covid 19. And I plan on visiting my fiance in November. What is confusing me is that which date is the date I need to go by the rfe date of 0ct 2 or the one the lawyer gave me.

If in doubt follow USCIS instructions.. lawyers are notorious for giving incorrect advice...

however in saying this, he is correct.. the below link advised that USCIS will “consider” responses provided 60 post due date if the notice was issued between March 1 and September 11 2020..

I would absolutely go by what the letter itself says.
