Hello fellow VJ members,

I applied for a K1 in April and COVID-19 made things worse for multiple people. I expect a long wait ahead for the final approval 2021 if lucky enough. However, I wonder can I apply for a tourist visa to visit my fiancée in US? Yes, I know about the bans traveling. Mainly would it interfere if I file for that while a K1 is processing.
thank you

You shouldn't have any problems with trying to obtain a tourist visa. Whether or not it's easy to obtain it in your country is another question. You need to show sufficient proof that you have ties to your home country.

This is a pinned thread about visiting, I think you'll find it useful:

Thank you,

just reading posts about strong ties makes me nervous now. Although, I have a job, I am enrolled in university just not registered in any courses, live at home, never been out of my homeland but I do take care of my siblings. I will wait until consulate opens and apply take the chances.

All you can do is present (fill out the DS260) information as accurately as you can. Your fiancé can always go visit you as it would be a much "easier" process. But it is definitely worth applying and seeing if you obtain one.
