hi folks -

just wondering about something - how do you prove, other than writing on the back, the date that 'evidence' photos of the 2 of you/2 of us together, were taken? esp if your camera doesnt automatically put the date on it, or if your photo printing service doesnt....or don't they get that detailed?

thanks.......

They just prove being together, them and other evidence is taken as a whole to prove meeting in the past 2 years, submit copies of ticket stubs, hotel receipts from foreign city, airline travel itinerary, ATM slips from the foreign bank ATM and especially passport pages showing entry exit stamps, anything that shows being in the same country/city together.

Pictures in front of recognizable landmarks, and together with foreign family are better than ones without.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

From USCIS:

Submit evidence of meeting the meneficiary in person within the two-year period preceding the filing of the petiition. The primary evidence may include airline ticket stubs and receipts (that indicate month, day, and year), copies of passport pages taht show the identification page and admission stamps, military order(s), letter from Commanding Officer, or any evidence that will help the USCIS to determine that the petitioner has met the beneficiary within the two years. The secondary evidence may be film dated photographs of the petitioner and the beneficiary together. The following DOES NOT constitue evidence of meeting: disc, videos, emails, letters, phone bills, and greeting cards."

Photos alone won't make the cut. They are helpful, with primary evidence, but don't sweat not having them or not having them date-stamped electronically in the camera. You can write it on the photos or print out digital photos with the dates as captions, etc.

Far more important, however, is the primary evidence - described above.

That language was taken directly from a commonly-issue RFE (request for evidence) received by VJers. Check out the RFE thread at the top of this forum for more information on what did and didn't work for other members.

best of luck!

tm,

You don't. But they rarely get that picky about the photos if appropriate evidence in toto is provided.

Agreed with most of the above but please note my friends were sent an RFE for, among a few other things, not having dates on their photos. Whether they expect it to be time stamped by the camera or simply written on the back, I don't know. I did both.

I got a RFE and one thing they said was photo's with dates were needed claiming mine had none. After the final interview in Sigon I recover the photo's and confermed I had put date in large print on the back of every photo. So dating photo's on back may not help if the moron's the DHS hires to review your package are to stupid or lazy to turn over or read the back of the print.

My solution was to submit photo's on 8 by 11 photo paper from a color copier and then write the dates & place on the margins on the front, so if the iodiots can read you might have a chance.

In hind sight the RFE was very help full because after that she had a ton of extra evidence submitted before her interview at the consulate and also had 2 senators and a congressman asking questions. It delayed us maybe 2 months.

She just recived her green card 6-16

I completely understand your frustration. One only wonders what the $175 fee was all about. How long does it take to turn a photo over??? Absolute morons. It's as if they do not realize it's people's futures they are dealing with here.

Beef up your primary evidence and don't worry too much about photos. It would be good to send a few if you have clear dates printed on the photos (or can tape them to a piece of paper and write the dates below), but the #1 important thing is primary evidence. People worry way too much about photos and phone records when they need to worry about boarding passes, passport stamps and credit card statements with purchases in the other country.

Mine was probably any exception to the rule. I would not advise anyone to only do what I did. I examined the EXIF data in the JPEGs from the pictures, printed them on plain paper, and wrote the date and time the picture was taken and an explanation of the picture underneath the picture. I submitted two or three. That also was the ONLY evidence submitted, other than writing in the box on how we met explaining that I live in a border town and that we were introduced by my brother and I see her at least 5 days a week.

I did the exact same thing...printed them out on photo paper on a colour laser printer. I wrote on the back the date, where we were, etc. Didn't seem to be a problem for us either. But we did have other evidence since we had to fly back and forth to see each other. :)

thanks all, for the replies..

..you wonder how specific and detailed you have to get, but, as with all government- and bureaucracy-types...i guess it doesnt hurt to be more than less!

(now wishing i had saved all those atm and restaurant, hotel etc receipts that i ripped up and threw out when they were clogging up my wallet! although i suppose a credit card bill will nicely itemize all that, hmm?)

It is suggested that you send pictures that show where you were. I think we sent some pictures that showed us in the Amazon.
