Covid-19 testing if you feel you need it

I can see a lot of false negatives by the person not swabbing correctly. It's painful, and I can't see someone sticking it up there without problems. Props to the smiling cartoon image happily trying to do it though. I can also see people contaminating samples and potentially infecting others via the mail packaging. Until you see how people send stool samples via the mail... you'll never be shocked.

It's great these exist, but do we know their reliability?

If I had symptoms and tested positive, I would believe it. I would not have a lot of faith in negative results. That goes for any of the kits really, not just this one.

Unfortunately for mild symptoms, false negatives become a major issue. If I had severe symptoms and got a negative result, I would still assume I had it and act accordingly. If I had mild symptoms and got a negative result, I might assume I just had a cold and then risk spreading it to others by not self quarantining.

You stated before that you can't get tested locally.  Perhaps a resource such as this one would help people who are in your same situation, but really want to get tested?    I have no interest in the lab, I'm not a paid sponsor, simply sharing the info that a friend gave me.  It was recommended by his doctor, so I imagine it's pretty legit.  The company has had that site in place since 2003.

No one is telling you that you SHOULD pay to get tested.  Just that another resource is available.  If you "have no use for an HSA" or FSA, and have to pay out of pocket, then don't do it.  It's really that simple.
