I am a citizen but my wife and father in law are Chinese nationals. I believe there is a current ban on entry for any foreign nationals who have in China for the last 2 weeks with an exception for immediate relative. I know my wife would fall under this exception but would my father in law qualify?

If they qualify what would they need to provide to prove ties? My wife should be straightforward since we are in the process of applying for her IR/CR1 and my father in law has applied for his own EB5.

Thank you for your help!

Thanks I'm sure everything will be fine also but some confirmation wouldn't hurt. I've seen conflicting reports on what is defined as immediate family. I've tried calling CBP for more information and I get directed to CBP Public Affairs office at (202) 344-1780 which just hangs up and does not even have a voicemail service. https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2017/world/travel-ban-who-is-close-family/ this washington post article states that in laws are considered as close family. I realize this link is old and may be outdated and also the definition of "immediate family" is different depending on what law/ruling/situation/department. While there is an option for my father in law to go through canada first before entering the us, my wife is hesitant to separate from him during this time. I appreciate you taking the time to read this.
