Hi,

So, I've been working on my N-400 Form today and upon review of the file the whole line of questions on uscis.gov produces I recognize a lot of sloppy errors.

Like the travel section is not ordered as per instruction on the form (but it was put in properly on their website). There are also odd inconsistent stuff. Like, I am asked if I am married. Then it asks if I had prior marriages. On the form it properly shows up as 1 (married, currently). Now when I fill out the spouse section, they ask if they had been married before. The answer is no. On the form it showcases a 0, even though it should be 1, since it's the exact wording as to my marriage status.

So I am puzzled. On one hand it seems super convenient to file online. On the other hand, applying with a sloppy file is really distressing

Has anyone seen these issues as well?

Anybody? Did you doublecheck the N-400 form the online form produces? Did it show everything properly for you?

I just checked mine and it has the same. It states 0 number of marriages for my spouse. Hmmmmm.  I guess I'll be correcting that at the interview!

Also,  I've been a PR for 7 years (G/C based on marriage) but the online form chose married for 3 years as my eligibility criteria for naturalization. It doesn't really matter but I wonder if it will mean they want more evidence of our marriage ties than if it was through 5 year residence.

Off to check the rest of the application.

Thank for double checking, Collette.

I suspect there may be a bunch to correct at the interview.

I noticed these issues and filed online.

I deleted those entries and reentered on a different browser. After a few attempts, the order of travel entries appeared in the correct order.

yes. The number of marriages is confusing and seems to be in conflict with that asked in the paper form. But as long as you are answering the questions correctly, it should be fine. You can clarify those points at the interview.

i also noticed that some questions were not asked for some applicants. We completed the online forms for myself and my spouse. The questions about Nazi Germany were not asked for my spouse and those 3 boxes remained unchecked. These questions came up when I was completing my application and I answered those and the check marks appeared correctly. Btw, these questions do not apply to us as we were not even born then.
So there are some issues with the software and I have brought these to the USCIS attention.  They will eventually sort these out.
As long as you answer all the questions and errors are not flagged, the form will be accepted and you will get an acknowledgement within 3-4 days. If you send the paper form, they will have to manually scan your application and documents and would take longer, 2-3 weeks before you get the acknowledgement.

I filed online in may 2019 and had something similar after I submitted my online application.. I wasn't too worried about it. They go over your N-400 form with you on your interview  day, any incorrect information you can change right there and then.  I'm sure you will be fine 😊. Good luck in your process!

I filed online too and it registered my husband's marriage as 0, but was corrected during the interview. The IO explained to me of what he's correcting and what it should be. He corrected it to 1 - since he's married to me. No biggie, was still approved.
