Passport Style Photo Size Question

I just returned from visiting my (now) fiancee, and during our visit we had passport-style photos taken of both of us.
When we said we wanted 51mm photos the people knew it was for a visa and said they did them quite frequently. It was a quick and easy process.

The photos meet all the requirements, except each photo we recieved is a set of two 2in x 2in photos with a black outline encased in a 4x6 photo.

Do I need to cut the 2x2 photo out carefully along the border, or can I just submit the whole 4x6 paper since each photo inside of it is a 2x2?

They require 2x2 for a reason.   You give them exactly what they require

YMMV

Applicants using Form DS-160 or Form DS-1648

If you are applying for a nonimmigrant visa by filling out the DS-160 or DS-1648 online form, the form will instruct you to upload your digital image as part of completing the online visa application form. Review the Digital Image Requirements, which also provide additional requirements if you are scanning an existing photo.

Some embassies and consulates require visa applicants to bring one (1) photo, which meets requirements, to the interview. Review the embassy or consulate instructions where you will apply to learn more.

From <https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/photos.html>

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

This is for the I-129F 2in by 2in pictures.

I am not anywhere close to doing a DS-160 yet.

But its the same for both. Whenever pictures are asked for the procedure and outcome are the same. It never hurts to know what is upcoming in the process and how to handle it.

Thanks for updating your profile.

Try submitting this as a new topic, people who may be able to help you may not see it here. Look at the procedure for renewing your passport here: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/have-passport/renew.html
