A few questions from bringing Canadian parents to US

I am in process of bringing my Canadian parents to the US and have a few questions.

We recently just paid the NVC fee's for both my parents.

Question 1 -  When paying for both my mum and dad, I paid both IV fee but the affidavit of support fee was only taken once for both applicants.  Is this an error?  We planned to play both Affidavit of Support fee + IV Fee x 2 (mum and dad), but when we paid the first one for one parent, it showed "in process" for my other parent.

Question 2 - My parents have invoice numbers one number off.  What are the chances that they would get interviews close together, in Montreal?

Question 2B - From payment + document submission + affidavit of support documents submission, how long does it usually take to have an interview scheduled?

Question 2C - Can we choose our interview (I am seeing some people say they can select their interview but others say they are given the time/date and no option to change).

We're anticipating that they'd be completed in this portion over the next 6ish months?

Thank you!

Q1... AOS needs to be done before DS

Q2... don’t know sorry

Q2B... after you submit documents to NVC, it can takes  4+weeks up to get DQ at NVC before they schedule your interview depends if you get an REF or not... after DQ I’m hearing Montreal is taking about 5 months to arrange interviews.

Q2C... most people scheduling their own interviews are K1.. immigration interviews are scheduled by NVC, if the date is inappropriate or inconvenient you have an option to reschedule with the embassy.

6-8 months until interview is a good estimate.

Thank you!  This is very helpful.  When I came here on a K1, we were 6 months from submission to visa in my hand -- which I was told at the time was extremely fast and we were prepping for 1+ year.  At that time, my interview was in my city (Vancouver) but the rules have changed.  Just a bit more time now :)

Thank you!

1) That's normal.  Since they're immigrating at the same time and their cases are tied together, it's normal to only pay one AOS fee.  It would be the same with a spouse and step-child being processed at the same time.

2) They should get interviews the same day (see above.)

2B) After case complete or documentary qualified (whatever the new term is) it takes about 4-5 months for Montreal to schedule an interview that can be the next month.

2c) no.  Only K1 are able to choose their interview date.

They can be done the NVC but chances of them having an interview is slim.
