Hey all! So we are going through the dreaded ssn process and of course today after 7 weeks of waiting I found out that he was declined a social security number. And of course when I asked why the agent on the phone said I needed to come in to the office. That’s a 4 hour wait. Anyway

I also marked on his AOS package that we wanted to apply for a social security card. What do you all advise we do? Go back to the office or just wait for the social security via AOS package and work authorization card?

Did they say why he was denied ? Or did you check the save database to see if there any details when it was sent back to “agency” ?

We had the same problem and was denied as the agent put in the wrong information on something for Ryan (can’t remember now what that was).
However, we went back in around 7-8 weeks and they corrected it immediately and sent it back through save and issued a ss immediately.
It took us three visits but finally he was issued his number.
They won’t give you much information over the phone and having his information for the ss agent in person may help determine why it was denied so they can correct it.
However, still adjust status regardless and as soon as possible as recommended.

Making another visit wouldn’t hurt.
Make sure you visit before day 74 or you may not have much luck or so I have been told on VJ.
Completely up to you on how important it is to have ( we wanted so he could be on my accounts and such.) or you can just wait for it when it’s issued through AoS process.

Best of Luck to you both.
