K1 Stuck in Application Received

Hi Everyone,

My fiance had her interview in Mumbai on Aug 9th 2019. Her process was smooth and the CO approved her but she said that she needed to translate her Birth Certificate to a notarized English version, then once she has completed that she should submit her passport to any VAC and should receive it within 4-5 business days. Long story short it took her 3 weeks to get her Birth Certificate, she then dropped her passport off on Aug 30th at local VAC and it reached Mumbai on Sep 3rd.

Since then these were the updates as follows.

  1. Sep 3rd - Visa changed from immigrant to non immigrant on CEAC to Application Received
  2. Case updated on Sep 10th
  3. I emailed on Sep 12th inquiring more information (And I think this made the Case update again - can someone also confirm this with me) - Case Updated
  4. To Date - Still in Application Received

Do you think there is any reason for concern? Why would the CO inform us 4-5 business days as it has been over double that so far. Is Mumbai backed up? We have wedding plans and are running on a tight deadline here.

Thanks for reading and god bless!

Unfortunately, you may have broken one of the cardinal rules as it relates to visas and planning here at the VJ forums. You should never make any non-refundable/non-changeable plans of any sort (i.e., travel, wedding, etc.) contingent on obtaining a visa, until you have your passport in your hand and the visa is attached in your passport.  To do otherwise, is to seriously set yourself up for trouble and disappointment. There are a myriad of tales of woe of people that have otherwise, and have been sadly disappointed.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Thanks for the response. Nothing I booked is non refundable/negotiable.

I guess my question is if anyone else is experiencing this with Mumbai or perhaps other VACs. It seems for a pretty simple case they are taking longer than necessary. I reached out to them via email. Will update you guys on that. Still stuck on application received as of today. :/
