Hello I’m wondering if anyone can give me advice or some insight in a problem I ran in to on my medical examination I had yesterday. I went to the examination in London and every thing went well until I was talking to the examiner. She brought up that on my medical questionnaire that I said yes to the following about having thoughts of harming myself, and have I ever acted on those thoughts to which I said yes as a when I was in my younger years and teen years I did self harm I was very honest and said it was a time when I lost my dad and it was a bad time she asked me if I ever had any help from my doctor to which I said no even though I was put on diazepam at one point but I never got a chance to explain she did ask if I ever got counselling which I received bereavement counselling for it. She asked me to show her my arms which I did and she kept asking me about if I ever got help I said to her that I haven’t done it in a long time and that I’m older now and since then have put my energy in to a healthier release and i explained those she then told me to get undressed down to my underwear and we carried on with the examination which she even felt and  touched  my scars after I had gotten dressed she asked me again about if I had ever gotten help and again I answered the same and said I haven’t done it since I’ve met my partner and I’m done with that. But the feeling I got was that she was not convinced even though my scars are white and are clearly old she then said I might need to see a psychiatrist before I made the final interview at the embassy in London. And that I would need to take a letter  to my doctor for him to look at my notes and provide information if I ever got any help when I reviewed the letter she had given me she’s put on the letter that I have been selfharming since aged 11 (when it did start over my dad) which it hasn’t been continuing to the age I am now. I know for a fact that my doctor won’t have much on file about the selfharm so if I did need to go back to London and see a psychiatrist what would all that entail and what would that mean about my visa case I’m worried that It’s been made out that I’m still currently self harming when that’s not the case at all. Any help will be extremely helpful.

Just a question, would this be the same physician you had when you were younger? Because if its still in your chart, I would consider receiving prescription benzodiazepine from your physician as receiving "help" from your doctor. If this is in your physician's chart, this may raise concern to your medical examiner that you are undermining your previous history. This may be something you want to clarify with your medical examiner before they find out from your chart review.

I’ve already had the medical examination and she said she want to have my doctor send her some information on the paper she gave me when she left she said if there’s nothing On there from it then I would need to see a psychiatrist before I made my final interview at the embassy

She wants a note form your doctor about your treatment (medication and counselling). Plus the added note saying you are not a risk to yourself or to others.
