Great news! Just received an email that my family member's I-131 Reentry Permit has been approved!!

For anyone who is interested in expediting... don't give up if you get denied! Keep submitting an expedite request! Got denied twice before finally getting an approval...

The thing is every time you request an expedite, it will get assigned to a different officer each time. Some officers are nicer. Some are more uptight.

I submitted my application along with a request for an expedite on July 26, 2019...

First expedite denied on August 7, 2019 (I figured I needed to get my biometrics done first)

Walked in for an early biometrics in a different state on August 26, 2019 (Original date was on September 5, 2019)

Called and talked to Tier 1 for an expedite request on August 26, 2019 after my biometrics

I contacted the senator on August 28, 2019

Second expedite that I requested on August 26, 2019 denied on August 29, 2019

Called and talked to Tier 1 for an expedite again on September 5, 2019

I contacted Ombudsman and received a response that my case is currently under active review on September 6, 2019

Received another respond from USCIS regarding the third expedite, it says that the case is currently with the adjudicating officer (I guess that means the expedite has been approved) on September 9, 2019

My I-131 approved today, 30 minutes ago on September 10, 2019

OMG, it was unexpected! I thought I would at least receive a response next week....

Good luck!

They may have different interpretations of what qualifies as it is a judgement call, but doesn’t mean somebody who denies an expedite is uptight. They just reached a different decision.

Congrats!! If you don’t mind me asking, what is what your reason behind the expedite?
