Watching some timelines and it seems that AOS interviews are being scheduled before folks are receiving anything for AP or EAD.

i understand that AOS varies according to local office, but I assumed that AP and EAD would move quicker?

It depends on how much backlog they have at the National Benefit Center, accordingly, so it varies. They give out their own processing times and adjust it as they see fit, so it can take as long as it takes (in our case, the first time it took 3.5 months, the second time around for the renewal it took 8.5 months). Also, not to be too much of a downer, but if your office is Seattle - trust me, you won't have to worry about getting your AOS done before getting the Combo card... Good luck on your journey!

A lot of field offices have a real average time to interview that's faster than the real average time to EAD/AP (as opposed to the official estimated ranges).

My pet theory (with no evidence) is that they prioritize EAD and AP applications from slower field offices. That would make sense, anyway; someone in SF or Houston and likely over a year from their interview probably needs EAD/AP a lot more than we do (with Anastasia's interview already scheduled).
