Hi there. I'm helping someone put together an AOS package--- on the I 864 form, where it asks where your citizenship was acquired through, the petitioner was born here. The question that follows asks if a certificate of naturalization or a certificate of citizenship was obtained, does certificate of citizenship refer to a birth certificate?

No, the BC is the evidence of citizenship. A certificate of naturalization is a specific document for others who acquired citizenship via other means.

Where on the I-864 does it ask for this...? It's on the I-130 I know, but I don't see it on the I-864.

You're either not looking at the I-864 or that's not the current I-864. The current I-864 has 10 pages:

Edit: It is definitely the I-130: https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-130.pdf

My mistake it is the 130. Are you informed as to what the answer is to the original question? Beneficiary is adjusting from Tourist visa

The form you are looking at is the I 130 . If you are doing AOS from a K1 visa , the 130 isn’t needed

Adjusting from tourist visa

BC is not a certificate of naturalization or certificate of citizenship. So 38 is No, and therefore 39 is not answered.
