Do they ask questions in the interview unrelated to the marriage/relationship?

If it’s a marriage based AOS. I’ve seen dozens of the possible questions about the marriage/relationship but what about the application in general? Employment/residence/status/the 500 yes/no questions etc.

Do questions like these ever come up? Or are these basically settled by the time of the interview if you haven’t received RFEs?

Anything is on the table. Generally the focus is on the relationship, but anything else that the IO feels may help determine eligibility (or ineligibility) can be asked.

This can sometimes include information about previous employment, previous travels, past visa applications, etc.

It really depends on who you get. Ours asked tonsss of unrelated questions, including some pertaining to our religion, and the education system in my home country. But this was all more conversational really and like she was just curious. But, yes they could ask absolutely anything
