Adjustment of status questions for K1 visa

Hey folks,

 

I’m filing the i-485 and i-765 together for my wife that was a K1. I just want to confirm a few things:

 

Am I selecting the c9 category?

 

Do we need to send an additional 2 passport photos, I-94, marriage certificate etc etc for the I-765, since I will already provide it with the I-485? I’m assuming no, but wanted to get some help. 

 

Can I just send a photocopy of the marriage certificate? 

 

Is the I-131 necessary to file now if she doesn’t have plans to travel outside the US? If we do file this form, is the fee waived if filing concurrently ?

 

How long of a turnaround time have you guys been seeing for work permit and social?

 

I’m sure these questions have been asked but I appreciate the help!

The fee is waived regardless. If you submit the I-131 later then you will need to submit a photocopy of the I-485 receipt notice.

 

I recommend to just send the I-485, I-765, and I-131 together.

How long of a turnaround time have you guys been seeing for work permit and social? 5-6 months these days for EAD. For SSN, if her I-94 is still valid, she still can apply for SSN. I applied for mine prior to AOS

I’m assuming no, but wanted to get some help.  - we sent copy of passport with the non immigrant visa, copy of electronic form of i-94, 2 passport size photos and a certified copy of the Marriage Certificate

Is the I-131 necessary to file now if she doesn’t have plans to travel outside the US? If we do file this form, is the fee waived if filing concurrently ?- I suggest, yes. It is for free. might as well include on the AOS application

 

How long of a turnaround time have you guys been seeing for work permit and social? - my work permit was about 4 months but it depends on your local office.

The I-765 is adjudicated at NBC, not the local USCIS office.
