Hello all I'm Kushan from Sri lanka. My PD is aug 2016 and i had my interview on Mar 21st 2019. After interview i was told to come collect my passport in a weeks time on the 28th mar. On 27th i get a call saying passport is not ready and they will let me know. Since then they have kept asking for travel documents ( times i went to usa back and forth) although i have never over stayed. First they wanted year by year then month by month. I have given them same documents at least twice as they seem careless or couldn't be bothered to read properly. They told me email was fine so thats what i did but they seemed to have got confused with the files as they kept asking again. So i made a hardcopy of everything in folder and dropped it off on june 20th. Until today i hear nothing from then and my passport has been with them for 4 months along with original birth certificates. Status showed ready since day one. Im confused on what i can do. Has anyone had this happened?

What visa type did you apply for?

Also have you been to the US before?

Did you enter legally or illegally and did you over stay your stay in there?

Also what exactly happened at your interview?

And did you have to fill out a DS5535 form during or after interview?

Its F2A. I have been many times and lived there for 10 years. No i haven't overstayed. Interview went fine and i didn't have to fill out any form. Thats why I'm confused.

Thats very unfortunate.

If it shows ready its more or less your case is not being reviewed at the moment.

Contact your senator to check on your case.

It does much good than checking up locally.

True, local contacts dont do much help. I will try to contact the senator and see. Do you know if any senator works because theres a big list on the website. Thanks for the reply

F2A visa is an immigrant visa type.

Get the person who petitioned for you to contact their senators or if you can contact your senator directly, that will be very fine.

You stated above you have lived in the states for 10years.

Get them to enquire for you.You will have a better response from them.

I will contact. Thanks alot for the reply. On a side note, my status never changed to anything. It has been ready before interview and after, even when they wanted more documents of my travels.

Your senator’s enquiry will trigger an update on CEAC.

Its very unfortunate about your case but try this and see how it goes.

All the best.

question?

when submitting the additional documents ,  did you label each and every page with case #, names and DOB's?

if not,  they may and do get separated during the AP

Embassies don't do good at guessing which case the documents need to go

guess thinking this may be what held up the case

when asking for help from the Senator ,  they need a release form to even check your case

and don't be surprised if the response you get is "case is in AP for additonal checks "  same answer you would get if you email or talk to embassy

Yes every file was labelled and sent along with all the details. They have kept asking for usa visit details. First it was in years then months. I finally decided to give a hard copy file on June 21st and have not heard any update since.

When you said release form is that something i have to type up and send along?

The  Senate office has the release forms/  you do have to sign it for them to ask any questions
