Sputum Test & Interview Schedule

Hi my dad is from Cebu, St. Lukes told him to come back Aug 5 for the results for his sputum test. If the tests are negative what is the next step? Should we schedule for an  interview? Or are they going to give him some paper works for the embassy? If anybody can help me walk through this process step by step I would gladly appreciate. Thanks

Do not schedule for the interview until your dad has been cleared by SLEC  (received his vaccinations ).  If he is not called before 5 Aug, the normal process is vaccinations and he is given his DS-3025.  The medical file will be delivered to the embassy, usually takes 2-5 days.

Are you talking about the results from the three consecutive days of sputum he gave or the two months cultures? If he is going back for the result just from the three samples he gave if they are negative he will still have to wait 8 weeks before SLEC will clear him, no ifs ands or butts!!! If he has already waited for the cultures  (waiting his 8 weeks) and they have not called him before the expiration of the 8 week period that is a sign he is negative and if there are no other infections he will be given his vaccines on August 5th. AFTER he receives his CD at that time you can book your interview. If you do book before he is cleared you are taking a big chance!!!

During my time i scheduled my interview 2 weeks before the release of my sputum culture results so that i can get an early slot for interview and a lot of applicants do that. They say that if your on your 6 weeks big chance that your negative. They usually call 2-4 weeks if you are positive.Good luck

Thanks for the reply. Lets say test failed and we already scheduled ahead of time. Can we reschedule it again? Is There a penalty?

You only have three times to cancel and reschedule without penalty, after that you have to pay the visa fee again and you are barred from making any appointments for 90 days. Lot's of people do set their interview in their 6th week of the sputum culture wait and that's fine if you have not used up your 3 reschedules. You can still be tripped up in many ways even if you are negative for TB i.e., SLEC has been known to NOT tell you until you get there that your 8 weeks has been extended. You just never know until you get those vaccines and that CD is in your hand.
