USICS Info-pass appointments not available

I am not able to schedule an appointment using infopass at local field office.

Seems like USCIS has stopped taking InfoPass appointments at all their local field offices. I searched with multiple zip codes and i get the same message.

You are mistaken, but I will grant you that USCIS worded what they have done very poorly. 

 

All local offices continue to schedule Infopass appointments, but the method of doing so has changed. Previously you could self-schedule them yourself online, but too many people were abusing this, so now you have to call them (or use the online chat) and plead your case as to why you need an appointment. If you get past the initial gatekeepers then a real USCIS officer will call you back in 1-2 days to schedule your appointment. 

 

This change will be active at all field offices by the end of September this year.

They haven't worded it that bad tbh, what they write is correct. Field offices don't schedule infopass appointments anymore, USCIS contact center/customer service does. Field offices still see you for your appointment, they just don't schedule appointments.

But the implication is that they aren't doing Infopass appointments at all, and that's not the case.

"There are still ways to get basic information..." Agreed, the rest of the text makes it sound as if it's no longer an option to get any information on your case other than the basic case status check that you do yourself on their website.
