Moving during K1 AOS and EAD/AP process

I’ve seen a few of these posts but none were really the same as my situation.  I’ve just gotten married last Friday here and we are currently living with our inlaws and will continue to do so until we have stable jobs and are able to afford to go out on our own.

The problem I have is that my in-laws have decided to move to Florida from Indiana.  It was going to work out fine as we were supposed to be moving down on the 24th of July and we would just start the filings then, but now they’ve had the sale of their house fall through due to the buyer.  So the move is a bit up in the air as to when it will happen.

I would be applying for the whole 9 yards;  AOS, EAD and AP.  I would like to be applying for it all within the next two weeks because I’ve got two weddings back home in the UK next summer and would want my combo card asap so that I can work, travel and get my drivers license.  If the combo card comes in plenty of time im not too fussed on the AOS side of it, it’ll happen when it happens.

So my questions are as follows:

1. How much will changing my address affect my processing times?

2.  How long does it take for an EAD/AP combo card to process on average?

3. Is it advisable to wait to process until we get to my new address or is the A11 not going to be too much hassle?

thanks in advanced

None

4-10 months, with some reported 12 months or over, but I think those are rare. The norm should be 4-10 months

You got two spouses? I didn't know they'd still do that in the UK. Cool!

Just kidding, I did the same. My wife and I are from two opposite ends of the country so we had to have one wedding in her hometown and one in my hometown. I know the drills.

I wouldn't wait just because of that. Yes, there are reported cases where the change of address did not get update and they lost their card, or notices and stuff. However, I think those are also the cases that have fallen through the cracks. The vast majority they get it right.  I think the key is you have to follow up with them diligently. You call after you file the AR11, you call to see if biometrics have been scheduled and if the right address,  you call when you case is approved to make sure they have the right address to send the card...

1. No one knows how much it will affect your GC processing time; it won't affect EAD/AP at all. However, if you move before your case is transfered to your local field office, it's unlikely to have any effect.

2. Currently ~7 months; it's been getting longer, so who knows what it will be like for you.

3. If you don't know when you will move, I'd file ASAP and then file a change of address when you need to; might as well get things moving.

Haven't read anything about your situation that makes it different from lots of others similarly situated. Agree with others advice about address change notice with USCIS, one other thing to keep in mind is to be sure to do an address change with USPS. USPS is the one agency that always seems to get the USCIS letters/documents with the printed notation of "DO NOT FORWARD."  As a consequence, make certain that your address change is "bullet-proof" with USPS. Hopefully that will lessen the occurrence of "non-deliverable" correspondence from USCIS.
