So me and my husband have already attended our first AOS interview for my green card in January and I got approved and I have my green card and everything has been fine. I got a letter in the mail today scheduled for a second I485 case type interview application to register permanent residence or adjust status.

Im unsure of what this means, is this normal or a mistake?

What is the date of the interview? Does it say "initial interview" or "second interview"? I would definitely call USCIS ASAP and see if you can get a T2 officer to confirm that there actually is an interview scheduled, and InfoPass if necessary. Seems really strange so I'd lean towards it being a mistake on their part (very common) but would definitely want to make sure. In the absolute worst case scenario you can always go to the interview with the GC in hand.

It says initial interview. The received date says July 17th 2018 and the notice says July 05 2019.

Our whole interview went great and no issues and they even said our next interview would be in 2 years when people usually have their next interview. So I’m very confused.

The date for the interview is 14th August

I got the exact same thing in the mail yesterday, also scheduled for August 14th. I’ve had my green card since November. So strange!

Glad that worked out.

Second interviews aren’t fun.  They interview both of you separately, compare your answers, and decide if you’re bonafide based on that.  Very stressful.

Happens if you raised flags or had anything funny show up in the first interview.  You can usually tell how that went and though Stokes interviews are not very common but i’ve seen it happen a few times here to pretty solid couples.

Generally recommended to lawyer up for a Stokes.
