Hi All

I just got my police clearance for my married name ( I am divorced, I just haven't changed my surname) Do I need to get one for my maiden name as well? They give the certificate based on your ID number which has been the same my entire life so I didn't think I would need two certificates?

Typically one certificate as long as AKAs are noted

YMMV

When I applied for my police cert of character, I listed current name and all aliases which would have been my former married name and my maiden name. When the police cert was picked up at the police HQ, I saw they put my current name and stated that there were no convictions or arrests for me or my aliases.

Each police station would operate differently in terms of their wording stated on the police cert. So I think that you would be fine. :)

They only put my current surname on... that’s because everything about you is under your ID number like social security number so regardless of name change you r id number remains the same

Did you provide other names?  According to the SA police certificate website it is a supplement

YMMV

I'd just provide the extra names just in case, but I too had to submit the 'names i have used' before for my police clearance and over here they printed the final certificate with my current name since I have retained the same identification number since birth. I'm hoping it would be the same for you
