I-864 question

Trying to collect my documents for the interview ASAP for cr1 visa. A requirement for the embassy is I-864. If I satisfy the annual income of 100% of poverty since I am military, would that mean that I still need to have a joint sponsor for the I-864 “affidavit of support”??

Meeting the minimum requirement is just one factor they look at.  They also look at cost of living where you live, work history, your last 3 years of taxes, among other things.  Barely satisfying the income requirement may be enough, but is most certainly not a guarantee depending on those other factors.

If you just barely reach the requirements, I would line up a joint sponsor ahead of time, should they request one later.

DCF CR1 filing in Guangzhou, China:

Married - 2018-09-25

I-30 submitted at Guangzhou office - 2019-06-17
I-130 approved - 2019-06-18
DS-260 Instructions Received, waiting to submit...

I personally don't think it's going to be an issue. The visa office on base that helped us filing the petition did not mention that as a possible issue.

If you don't mind me asking, what's your rank in the military?

E4. Also, per your last post, what time did you call the Rome consulate? And what was the number? Because every time I call I have to press a bunch of numbers that directs me back to their website.

Rome consulate is available for telephone enquiries from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm (Italy time).

The number is 06 46 74 21 90.

Press 1 and then 2 to speak with an attendant.

Okay great! One last question. When you got notification of approval, it was through Naples? Did Rome ever notify you of approval via email?

Yes, I only received an approval notification from Naples with my case number and instructions for the interview.

You won't be able to speak to Naples over the phone - at least I could not make it. However,  you can send them an e-mail and they reply withing 3 working days.

Thank you so much for your help!! I’m still waiting on the notification of approval. I hope there is no issues because I need to leave in August . The NOA1 was 5th June by Rome. If I get the approval, then I will be going to Naples late July/early August and will let you know how the interview was!!

Perfect! I am planning on going in September on my own since my husband is deployed.

Definitely call Rome now saying you want to expedite. They might ask you for your new orders. Just explain (as my husband did) that you do not get your new order until a few weeks before you pcs, but your Italy orders state that you can be stationed in Italy for x months and you need to leave soon. Also, where you guys going? I have no clue where we are going. They are not going to tell us until August and I am having issues with the DS 260 form  which requires me to specify a permanent address in the States where I will be staying.

For permanent address , that can be a tricky one.. I just put down the general address of the future base. I was lucky to have gotten my orders 4 months in adavance
