International travel after N 400 interview

My citizenship (N 400) interview is  scheduled for next week. However there is a family emergency situation back at my parents home in India and I would like to travel international for a week.

What are my options :

1) Should I try to reschedule my  citizenship interview. I have 8 days left.

2) Can I travel after my interview. Will that cause any issues at the Oath ceremony.

Has anyone been through any of these situations.

Thanks for any relevant advice.

If the family situation can wait then I would suggest to travel after your interview.

You will be back to queue if you reschedule your interview, and you don't know how many months you have to wait again before you will get the new interview notice.

Traveling after the interview is fine, as long as you will bring your itinerary on your oath (if you're approved), because you have to disclosed to the IO on your oath that you travel internationally after the interview, and the IO might or might not gonna ask for your itinerary, so better to bring it on your oath ceremony. Good luck.

If you can hold off on traveling,  would suggest attending the interview since it's only 8 days away, and travel after that.  Just have someone checking your mail incase the oath ceremony letter arrives while you're away.

My husband also has to travel internationally right after his interview date for a court date due to the death of his son. I am going to print out the itinerary and send it with him in our binder of documents to the interview just in case they ask specifics, but will have to reschedule the oath ceremony if it falls within the time period he's gone.

The death certificate would help too if you can obtain one prior the oath ceremony, but I guess the itinerary would suffice.

I really wanted to have that for the interview just in case (since we had to note on the application that his son was deceased) but there's no reliable way of getting an original before he travels back there.  If they require it we'll just have to submit it after he gets back and extend the process. Not ideal but I guess not a huge deal in the grand scheme of everything else going on.
