A K1 applicant does not need the letter from the London Embassy to get in the appointment. They do not invite you to an interview. The only postal letter from London says they have received your approved petition so you can apply for the visa. Then they tell you to get your instructions by reading their website.

HERE https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/applying-for-the-visa/

Read everything on that page and open every link. Tell your lawyer to learn the London procedure as well. It is all explained on the website.

The website even though indicates ready, says to wait to get an email or a letter from the consulate, so that is very confusing to me.   Both of these are from the website in the last several days and indicate that we are awaiting word from them that’s why I am so confused in my head is exploding LOL    I do have the printout of the cover sheet, and when I booked his interview, that said print this out and bring it with you, that will also include the DS 160 cover page as well as all of our other supporting documents in addition to the cover page that has the interview time and date on it

I guess my point is, to book the interview we did not need the letter but don’t we need a letter from the consulate to show up at the interview?

Missy. I explained above what the only letter you will get in the post has in it. It is not required to show at the door of the embassy on interview day in London. I know London. Every Consulate has slightly different procedures.

When you log in to check youR status, you are reading a generic statement from the State Department. It applies to spouse visas who do get an appointment letter from NVC, work visas, and says things not really appropriate to a K1 in London. That status is still going to say Ready to book interview after you've already interviewed.

The embassy website has the most information specific to you. Yes, they want you to get their letter first.  But we've all figured out that you can book your medical and interview before you get that letter. Did you read these four step on the K1 instruction page from London? Follow the steps in order but don't worry about the letter or waiting until you have been to the medical before doing step 4. That's what they wish you would do, but nothing keeps you from carrying on.

That is what you show when you get to the embassy. It has your appointment date on it so they know you belong there on that date and time. The postal letter you're waiting on does not go to the embassy.
