people think waiters and food makers in restaurants are slaves... those arseholes should work in mcdonalds for a week, so they know how does it feel to be on the other side

My father required my brother and I to work part-time when we were in high school. I worked at a La Madeleine restaurant in Dallas; it's a chain of faux French cafes and it attracts an extremely snooty clientele. I got treated so badly that I decided I HATED people. I tell you what, though; it had the desired effect. I studied my a$$ off so I wouldn't have to do jobs like that in adulthood.

As a result I'm usually VERY polite to waitstaff, A. because I know how hard they work and B. because I don't want pubes/spit/etc. in my food.

Well the other side of it - I've experienced my fair share of bad waiting staff.

I’ve had several bad Starbucks experiences where the barista knowingly use fat free milk in drinks that specifically ask for 4%. I usually catch that and ask them to remake it – but occasionally not, and the coffee tastes tastes disgusting. I mean its $5 of my money – resent buying it if its not going to be made right.

Dude...you spend $5 on a cup of coffee?

omgwtf2copyaa9.jpg

Not everyday - costs more in NY than NJ (or CA for that matter) - Going rate in NYC is about $4.40.

Sometimes I need the jolt - and the free stuff from the machine at work tastes like coffee that's already been twice brewed and filtered through someone's infected kidneys.

Can beat that. Just the other week - in this lunch place I go to in the city, the guy in line behind me told the server to f-off and stormed out because the server misheard what he said and put the wrong dressing on his salad.

Seemed a bit of an extreme reaction for an honest mistake. Not like it would have taken them long to remake it the right way...

Common courtesy isn't always that common.

If someone works a customer service oriented job they need to remember one thing - the customer is always right.

Customers need to remember that it's a human being on the other side of the counter.

It might be easy to get a service job - but its not easy to be good at it.

Bizarre. I've had Starbucks' coffee before but I thought it was too strong and bitter. Maybe I just don't like coffee. Then again, I went to Chez Gerard in Teddington and had an OUTSTANDING cup of coffee. Cost more than $5 too. It's OK on occasion, but I couldn't imagine spending that sort of money on coffee on a regular basis.

The stuff that came out of the machines for free at work was fine.

When I get bad service, I just take my business elsewhere if the bad service is routine and not just a fluke. As far as Starbucks, I go there monthly as well, but there are too many on near corners to accept bad service from one. I certainly would not cause a scene or do anything rude, I would just simply ask for a refund and or never return.

I used to drink freeze-dried Nescafe - but I can't drink that stuff anymore - tastes like ####### to me. I'm particular about coffee - not really about tea. I drink more tea than coffee.

Most expensive coffee ever was in Paris and Rome - some of those outdoor cafes sell it for $10 a (small) cup. Its good - but even I draw the line there.

Dude...you spend $5 on a cup of coffee?

Pretty cheap, eh? The same cup of Starbucks coffee would cost £5 in London.

Yes it does.

Hmmm... is that really mean't to be as patronising and insulting as it sounds?

I am sure Pedroh can make his own mind up...

If HE asked me that question I would say no - take it as a compliment and at face value.

Just because you don't like me, you shouldn't make other peoples' minds up for them - especially Pedroh's...

Wait to be appointed as his interpreter - and as his spokesperson - preferably holding your breath

If you interpret that as 'butt out of other people's affairs ' then you would be right for once

If you don't want other responses to your posts perhaps you should consider it part and parcel of posting on a public message board.

BTW most people don't like to be condescended to by an arsehole - especially one whose wit and sense of humour is poor, coarse and mean spirited. If you interpret that as "put up or shut up", then you would be right for once. It's not about "likes and dislikes" its about rudeness and sheer bad manners.

Feel free to respond with another trite comeback in the same manner. Go on - I know you can't resist it.

Since 'the incident' , I have shown restrain on VJ and kept out of your way and not contributed or responded to any of your posts, but you decided to come in on my post and attack. I notice that all your posts are snide and humourless and geeky so you would not make much of a playpal anyway.

I was interested in reading your experience in the coffee shop where you were were prissying about being picky with the staff member in order to look important and a gourmet, with the secondary purpose of panhandling a free cup of coffee (Your own admission)

I reckon your are a PC warrior and a penny millionaire who could not stay in the same ring with most VJ contributors if you had to play fair. You only 'win' your tussles on VJ by plumbing the depths of personal PC labeling, and you obviously have no conscience about doing that.

It gives me no pleasure to be round someone who I imagine to be a sort of adenoidal dirty mac person who gets royal with minimum wage coffee shop assistants , so I am out of the 'other' forums (again).

I find most of the people in the 'real' forums to be quite wholesome in comparison, so I will return to that area and leave you to do your thing

Wendy's manager shot over chili sauce Tue May 29, 10:34 PM ET

A manager at a fast-food restaurant was shot several times in the arm early Tuesday trying to protect the chili sauce, authorities said.

A man in the Wendy's drive-through argued with an employee because he wanted more of the condiment, police said. The worker told the customer that restaurant policy prohibited a customer from getting more than three packets.

The man insisted on 10, reports said. The employee complied, but police said the customer wanted even more.

The manager came out to speak to the man, said Miami-Dade police spokesman Mary Walter. The customer then shot the manager, who was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The customer fled in his vehicle with a female passenger, authorities said.

I came across more info guys ;)

GUARD WAS ASLEEP

A security guard was on duty, but Frage said he was asleep during the ordeal. The sound of gunshots woke him up.

The shooter fled in a light-brown four-door vehicle. Miami-Dade police are studying surveillance video, hoping for a glimpse of the shooter's face.

''It is ridiculously sad that someone would almost take someone else's life over something so trivial,'' said Mary Walters, a Miami-Dade police spokeswoman.

The restaurant was open for business Tuesday, with customers steadily using the drive-through all afternoon.

Frage, an orphan, immigrated from Haiti five years ago. He graduated from North Miami High School in 2006 and has been a Wendy's employee for three years.

He said his deep religious beliefs saved him.

''As soon as I realized I was shot, I started praying to God,'' he said. ``I don't think He'd want me to die over some chili.''

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
