Good deal, pedroh. Charlotte is one city we wouldn't mind moving to.

Did you know that Charlotte was once voted one of the 10 most boring cities in the country?

;)

LOL

I don't think it's that bad.. I like that posh area of the southpark, won't really have the money to buy all my wardrobe from burberry's there, but it's nice to look at

I just got an email from a family friend and he's just been appointed the new area superintendent for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system. He's been in Florida for several years now. He was the Principal at Celebration, the school in the town Disney created. He's the principal in another area of Florida right now. I just thought it was kinda neat he'll also be relocating to Charlotte in the next few weeks.

Just couldn't stay my @ss away!

Since you are an exempt employee now, things will be different. Come in on time, but if a project needs to be completed, you stay. I interviewed for an oil and gas company recently...in this case, they get every other friday off BUT, you work long hours if something needs to be completed...be that 12 hours or 16 hours.

I'm going to be starting my job near Tucson soon...it too is salaried but it's not going to be much different from my "hourly" job I have now. I don't get overtime anyway just "comp time" which I never hardly get to use anyway.

It depends on the company. They tend to abuse salaried workers because they don't get OT. When I was salaried I was expected to give the company 45 hours a week at minimum. I prefer an hourly rate but they did make it worth my while when they set my salary.

their offer is pretty good, i wouldn't mind working 45 hrs a week.. in my current work i work 50 hours a week stacking boxes and moving pallets around.. so it's gonna be a biiig break

Congrats on the job!

My husband gets to work 5-10mins early, but he has a long commute. You may just have to get a feel of the place after you are working to know how soon ppl leave at the end of the day. At my hubby's office, they all leave exactly when their day is supposed to end. No one likes hanging around after that. Only if there was a big project going on do they end up staying longer. Suj has had to stay longer for projects, but thankfully that hasn't happened for awhile now.

Good luck!

If you are talking about salaried in terms of exempt from OT laws (there are many salaried positions that are non-exempt where the salaried employee is compensated for hours worked over 40/week at 1.5 times the pay rate), you arrive to get the job done and leave when it is done. There may be core hours where you are expected to be there but in all actuality, your employer cannot "nail" you on when you arrive and leave. As an exempt employee, your attendance can only be managed via your performance and your ability to get the job done you were hired for. That said, arriving 10 minutes early to start would probably be good. The end of day, you should go with the flow.

Generally speaking, I agree with the others: Say bye-bye to your 40 hour work week. ;)

It isn't. I don't mind 9-10 hour days all that much even though right now I'd rather work shorter days to get to spend more time with my baby. On the other hand, my position does offer a good bit of flexibility.
