Hey,

I have a question about traveling with my advance parole. I have a passport with my maiden name and an AP is on my new marriage name.  I´ll buy the ticket logically on the name which is in my passport, but won´t be a problem at the airport in my home country while i will check-in? I know that they always ask on what we are flying to the US (visas, esta etc.), is marriage certificate enough proof to advance parole document? I am asking this because I hope they have experince with these situations on the airport so they will understand the marriage certificate in my home country.  The same question applies when entering the US on custom. Thanks a lot.

Take a copy of the marriage certificate with you.  My wife had the same issue and trying to get an updated Russian passport is very difficult, so she traveled with her Russian passport (maiden name), GC (married name) US passport now (married name) and always kept a copy of the marriage certificate with her.  I don't think she ever had anyone ask to see the certificate.

Good luck!

Hi Bill,
My wife is also from a country where it's hard to change the name on the passport. We are filing papers to get her to the US soon.
Can you confirm that it was possible to get the first green card in her new married name?
Or did you initially have to get it in her maiden name, and then change the name on the green card after she came to the US?
I have seen conflicting posts around here, some saying the green card HAS to match the name on the passport.
Thanks

Let's see how long this DCF CR-1 takes! 😀

When Katya filed her AOS we filled out all the forms with her new married name and had no issues.  The only issue we ever encountered was with the SSA when she first got her SSN; they would only issue it in the name on her Russian passport even though we had the marriage license, so we had to go back and change that once she received her GC with her married name on it.

Good Luck!

So no issues issuing the green card in a different name to the passport? Great.
Thank you very much!
