Student visa expiring, does Canada count as leaving?

My partner is currently in the US on an M1 student visa which ends on July 1st and has to leave the country before then. I'm wondering if leaving to visit Canada for 2 weeks qualifies as leaving the US? Then also she has a US tourist visa that expires in 2022, I'm wondering if she can come back into the US on the tourist visa for 1 month before we end up doing some traveling abroad? Thanks!

I want to say no?

I know Canada and Mexico doesn't reset time for ESTA or B2 visa so if guess it doesn't work for changing visa either?

03.2015 - AoS started.

09.2015 - Green Card received.  

RoC

24.07.2017 - NoA1.

01.08.2018 - RoC approved.

10/19/2017.......... I-797 NOA date

10/30/2017.......... Notice received in mail

10/30/2017.......... Check cashed

11/02/2017.......... Conditional GC expired

11/22/2017.......... Biometrics completed

  xx/xx/xxxx.......... waiting waiting waiting
