N400 online notifications says, We transferred your application to another USCIS field office for review, any ideas on what this mean?

Just received a new notification on N400 application after almost a year from applying. Also, waiting time moved from 2 months  to 16 days and cas completion from 3 months to 2 months, the completion and waiting time normally change by the beginning of every month. 

 

We transferred your application to another USCIS field office for review. 

 

This is the message I received, and also the explanation letter should be online in any time and may take a few days to appear. 

 

Any of you you guys may have an idea about what’s this about?

No, my mailing address has been the same for the last 3 years now. This is in Brooklyn, NY.

So what office did they move it to?  Maybe it is just a rebalancing workload move.

I still don’t know, waiting for the full letter to appear on my account. I’ve been reading about that, it’s as you mentioned workload issue, or another field office to schedule the interview. Specially that waiting time has changed and the completion too.

This is pretty new for NY filers. I haven't heard such thing, maybe field office in NY is expanding and they are transferring your application to the Brooklyn field office (might be a new location). Keep us posted once the letter showed up. Thanks!

Will do. But, my address is in Brooklyn and I guess when I did it online it was sent to the Brooklyn office. Well, I think we’ll see what’s this all about soon.

I think it's the same jurisdiction and location, since you did not change your mailing address. I'm suspecting it's the same office building location but different floor.

In Federal Plaza there are specific floors that process  the N-400 for specific borough, so they might transfer your application to the borough that less applicants, one of the example is Queens.

Lets just hope they process your application if they did transfer to Queens since they are known processing the application much more faster.

Yea. I was reading about it and it’s all goes around balancing  the workload, or getting a last review before scheduling the interview.

Someone just posted something similar in July 2018 filers thread.  My guess is rebalancing in NYC because Brooklyn is quite backed up compared to others:

 

Long Island:  7 months median

Brooklyn:  14.5 months median

NYC (I guess excluding Queens & BK) 13 months median

Queens: 11.5 months media
