Where is the work authorization card?

When we applied for adjustment of status we also checked the box to have them send us a social security card. We also did the work authorization. We got the paper saying the authorization was approved, got the social security card the next day but 2 weeks now and no work authorization card. Is this normal or maybe it was lost in the mail? Our case hasn’t even updated. Our AOS interview is next week so I guess it doesn’t matter.

April has been weird. I'll be at 10days by the time it gets here but I've seen a few that have been waiting over 2 weeks too.

You can call and ask but generally they give themselves a month to get it to you.

Did you get a social security card yet? My husbands card says for work only. I have talked to others who said theirs was just a regular social security card, so not sure why his says that. We are so confused but going with it :)

I have my maiden name card and I did apply for a replacement in my married name on the I765 but I have no gotten it yet. It usually comes shortly after the Combo card arrives so you just got lucky.

"Valid for work only with DHS Authorization" is what it's supposed to say as you can only work with BOTH that SSN AND your EAD card.

Its possible "others" arent just reading it right or they have already received their GC at which time you return to SSA and get a replacement card removing that statement as with your GC you no longer need your EAD (or work authorization), right?

Ok, that makes sense. Yes that’s right, with green card you don’t need the work authorization. Thank you for responding, I feel a lot better now with our situation.
