Hello everyone,

I am just CURIOUS...what exactly is the process that USCIS do when you file I-129F? Is it just the background on petitioner? Checking for accuracy for the filing?? I would just like to know for my own information.

THANKS 😊

It’s a background check in the petitioner to evsure you are not excluded from filing for s fiancé.

It’s also to check you meet the requirements to petition:

- that you are a US citizen

- that you have met the immigrant face-to-face within the last 2 years

- that you are both legally free to marry each other

- that you are both willing to marry within 90 days of the immigrant’s arrival

Is this what determines if your I-129F is approved (NOA2) to be sent to the NVC?

Yes, the I-129F is just the petition which needs to be approved to show that your fiancé is eligible to apply for a visa. Once it is approved, it is sent to the NVC and your fiancé is then invited to apply. An approved petition is not an approved visa, nor is it a guarantee that the visa will be approved.

Exactly as above. USCIS just gives approval of the I-129f petition, which then gives the eligibility to apply then for the actual K-1 visa at the embassy level following NVC.

Hi. I attended my interview on March 14th and was approved and was asked to pick my passport from dhl in 2 weeks. I checked my status and it said ISSUED. Been going there since March 28th but they said it's not there. I called the embassy and they said when it's ready for pickup I'll be notified by email.

I'm worried and confused and dunno what to do. Any help here please?
