HI all-

I'm nearly ready to send off my I129F ! :)

I've written a fairly long record of how we met- a brief description of our introduction; but here's my question- we've met a LOT of times. In the last three years there's been about 12 visits back and forth. To fit ALL that on the page I was very brief with my descriptions, and entirely NOT personal.

I don't know I sort of feel like its not their business to know the personal bits of our life together, but if its required I could sprinkle some personal things into it I'm sure.

Currently it sort of reads like a laundry list, visited here, did this. that sort of thing. Is that going to be acceptable?

Thanks.

Erica

The question asks how you met -- meaning the first time. A few sentences describing that initial meeting is sufficient. For example, "we met when I was on a business trip in xxx. I went to a restaurant in xxx where xxx was also dining. We were introduced by mutual friends there"

In addition, the petition asks you to provide evidence that you have met in person during the last 2 years. You dont have to detail all 12 visits, just detail the most recent one or two and mention that you have met several times previous to your latest visits.

Just to share my experiences ... though I am not filing thr' VSC

My fiance and I met 6 times in the past 2 years.

so we just came up with a simple list stating the date of the visit (then attach relevant evidence eg boarding pass, passport stamps ....) , the place I/he stayed during the visit and mentioned only the thing we can provide evidence (eg. we went to ski in the US. Hotel receipt and ski pass are attached at Annex A ..... )

I think you can skip the details that you could not provide any evidence.

and I really think the number of visits help convince the person who handles your case. To me, we did not send in all the evidence, eg the passport stamps of my fiance nor any other secondary evidence eg ATM receipt etc. But we didnt get an RFE ! Lucky !

btw ... send your visit information within the past 2 years !

AOS NOA: 1/26/2008

Biometrics: 3/4/2008

nth nth nth ..........

Interview: 8/22/2008

They don't want a life story, just a brief description.

They don't? My story is being published by a major publishing company. Really though, I ended up writing about a page and a half. I included how we initially made contact, when I went to meet her, a bit about what we did on each day I was there etc. The pictures I included go along with what we did through my visit.

I wrote around 3/4 of a page. I detailed the first meeting we had in one paragraph. Then I just stated the dates of the following visits. The only other meeting I put any detail in was the one where I described our engagement. Mainly cause it was new and cute and I wanted to tell everyone hehe :) Good luck!

Bottom line is, the question on the I-129F clearly says:

Describe the circumstances under which you met.

The space provided for the answer is about 4 typed sentences. While you can certainly provide an additional sheet and more detail, it isn't necessary.

Key to filling out immigration forms is generally to answer the question that is asked and nothing more.

You can always mention that you travelled back and forth to see each other 12 times without giving the dates.

I gave dates because we didn't have too many trips because I lived/stayed in Brazil for months.

11/2004 - Met in Brazil

09/2006 - Apply for K1

03/2007 - K1 approved

04/2007 - Apply for AOS & EAD

01/2008 - Conditional Residency approved

11/2009 - Apply to remove conditions

02/2010 - Permanent Residency approved

11/2010 - Apply for Citizenship

03/2011 - Citizenship approved

Really, it's not necessary. The question is in reference to WHEN YOU MET - not proving the number of visits. You send in relationship evidence and you bring that to the interview.

Oh did you add in photocopies of your travel tickets or any receipts? I visited my boyfriend twice and stayed for a few weeks when I was there. I took the greyhound but I forgot to save the receipts, does it matter? I got lots of pictures though.
