Hey all, we were going to call the Department of State next week when we hit day 60 since interview in ap, then contact our senator.

just wondering if this would do more harm to our case than good.

Does anyone have experience with either of the above?

No harm. They may just tell you they do not take visa calls and hang up. Way back, before we had CEAC to check status, I discovered DOS would give out all kinds of info. Their computers have everything the consulate sees because they are all under the same DOS umbrella. Eventually the word spread on VJ and they received too many frivolous calls and quit answering visa status questions completely. They just hung up if you asked.  Now you have somewhat of a status check with CEAC so better than nothing.

If you sound really sad and pitiful, maybe the person will have sympathy and bend the rules. Don't be disappointed if they refuse to look up your file.

  • Contacting a Senator
  • you need to sign a release so

they see the same thing you see which is basically the last notice you recd from immigration

they have little to no pull / my Senator's office told me this (Corker at the time)

they ask Homeland Security to look into the case (if you ask the senator,  google your name about a month later and see the request turned over to DHS)

what can you do?

wait and pray

if they ask for any documents ,  get them in ASAP

unforunately AP can last a few days ,  or a few weeks or a few months

if they kept your passport ,  there is hope and it will be a matter of time

do remember that traveling to the US must be done within 6 months of the medical exam,  so that could require a new medical if the AP lasts too long

Just like before. Call and make an appointment.  I think it may only be a partial medical at a reduced cost. I believe it is the TB clearance that expires at 6 months so they need a redo.

Thanks, guessing I don’t have to wait for anything from the embassy just call the medical people the day after my medical expires?

Correct. And explain it's a redo for expiration. They shouldn't need to go over any past medical histories or shots again if those were already signed off.

Thanks much appreciated. Hoping we don’t get that far but at 55 Days already it’s worth knowing in advance.
