Waiting over a year for B2..and now it shows my receipt number is invalid. What to do?!

Hey guys, I assisted my mother in law in applying for a B2 14 months ago and have been checking constantly for interview spots - so one comes up today and I now the website is saying my receipt number is invalid. The cost is now higher due to exchange rate so do they expect me to again pay and lose the original money or what? This wait is totally ridiculous at this point and I finally see an open spot (from notification via GoForTravel) and I can't even grab it. Very frustrating to say the least. I sent a message to via the website but I assume nothing will come of it as usual.

Anyone else been waiting this long for a B2 for Russian citizen?

Moscow's backlog is insane right now. I recently knew someone who, despite living much closer to Moscow, just decided to buy a plane ticket and book a B1/B2 interview in at the Consulate in Yekaterinburg. They were able to get an interview really soon and it was no problem at all. (This person was approved by the way, had no issues at all).

If there's any possible way for mother-in-law can just go to Yekaterinburg instead, it's worth it. I don't think I'd recommend anyone to apply on Moscow right now because it's so backed up. Even people from Moscow should consider it, the wait time is barely over 1 month after completing the DS-160. I took this from the travel.state.gov site:

And yes, there has been a cost change in terms of the B1/B2. I posted about it recently:
