I have heard of Siargao Island and we really want to go to it the next time we are in the Philippines. I have heard it has become a spot for expat surfers as well.

I think we will visit there in June if my fiancé wants to go.

I have been traveling to Philippines since 2007, I have never made any hotel arrangements when I travel.

I look on a map and do some research, check the weather and take a plane to where I want to go, once I get there I go looking for hotels. If I like the place I stay there a few days or a week, if I don't like it I move on to another location.  This has served me well.

Just when you think you have TDS eradicate,  a new case shows up.

I've been going for about 10 years also. The problem I have with smaller cities like Iligan is there are maybe one or two nice hotels and if they are booked the rest are pretty bad and I'm spoiled.....hahaha.

Check out TripAdvisor as well. When I used to travel a lot I used that site religiously to pick out small out of the way hotels and I wasn't disappointed.
